Our October meeting will feature a look ahead to the winter season. Marilyn Mangle will give a presentation on how she protects all of her outdoor potted plants for winter (she grows the plants for the club's raffle table, as well as many plants of her own). Brian Kemble will show slides of South Africa's winter-rainfall aloes; the winter rainfall area there is on the country's west coast.
And our featured grower, David Calibo, will have lots of aeoniums, which mostly come from the Canary Islands -- another winter-rainfall succulent-rich area.
For our show-and-tell table, we invite you to bring in plants which grow in winter, and are now beginning to wake up and put out new leaves. Of course, any plants which are flowering or really looking good are welcome additions to this table, even if they are not winter growers. |
