Valley of the Río Huaúra, Perú with speaker Leo Martin

Peru’s geology and climate are completely different from anything in North America. In Lima Province, Leo Martin joined a company of Peruvian botanists exploring the valley of a river flowing from the high Andes to the Pacific. Leo will show a number of cacti and other succulent plants in habitat, and tell us what he learned about growing Andean plants.

Among plants shown will be a colossal, monstrose Neoraimondea; several bromeliads; two Haageocereus species; a Jatropha mimicking a Plumeria; two Armatocereus, some delicate, high-altitude Andean bulbs; and a rarely-seen Weberbauerocereus.

Featured grower: In addition to providing a fascinating program, the featured grower of the month for November will also be Leo Martin.

Show and Tell: Gymnocalycium, Melocactus, Bursera, Trichocereus, as well as any plants that look particularly nice right now.
