A Month in Madagascar, with speaker Kelly Griffin

We are very excited about this month’s program! Kelly Griffin will present a pictorial overview of a very recent trip he made to Madagascar. He spent a month traveling the country side looking for flora and fauna—and found plenty of both…Lemurs, Aloes, Chameleons, Kalanchoes, Snakes, Alluaudias and Pachypodiums. Kelly is a superb photographer and this program promises to be visually stimulating and utterly fantastic!

Kelly is currently employed at Rancho Soledad Nurseries as the curator of xerophytic plants. It is one of the largest Nurseries in Southern California specializing in rare and unusual Palms, Cycads and Succulents.

Featured grower: The featured grower of the month for August will be a medley of offerings from various growers among our ranks of members. Among them you may find offerings from our esteemed speaker, Kelly Griffin—widely known for his trailblazing hybrid Aloes, and also interesting seed-grown species from Russell Sprouts and Jim Smith, and still more plants from the club’s collection tended by Marilyn Mangle. This is a potpourri you don’t want to miss!

Show and Tell: Succulents of Madagascar, Astrophytum, and any plants that look fabulous right now.
