U.C. Botanical Garden at Berkeley

34 acre garden featuring 13,000 plant species worldwide. Famous for its rare and endangered species. Includes a succulent garden and greenhouse.

The Ruth Bancroft Garden

The Ruth Bancroft Garden is a public dry garden in Walnut Creek, California, that features a unique display of succulents, cacti, and other drought-tolerant plants as well as California natives.

Arizona Cactus Garden

The Arizona Cactus Garden, also known as the Stanford Cactus Garden, is a botanical garden specializing in cactus and succulents. It is located on the campus of Stanford University (within the Stanford University Arboretum, and near the Stanford Family Mausoleum and the Angel of Grief), Stanford, California, and open to the public daily without charge.

Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens

Located in Fort Bragg, this garden includes succulents growing well in the coastal fog.

The Huntington Botanical Gardens

The Huntington Desert Garden in southern California is one of the largest and oldest assemblages of cacti and other succulents in the world, featuring more than 5,000 species of succulents and desert plants in sixty landscaped beds. Annual CSAA sale is held here in late June. Every year, they release rare and unusual succulent and cactus cultivars for sale through International Succulent Introductions (ISI).

Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanic Garden

Located in Arcadia, this arboretum features a large desert garden. Location of the Intercity Show every August.

San Diego Botanic Garden

Formerly Quail Gardens, the botanical garden features 27 diverse gardens and their extensive plant collections, flowering trees from around the world, majestic palms, and North America’s largest bamboo collection. The Old and New World Desert Gardens are home to a diverse collection of succulents. The Undersea Succulent Garden is known for its underwater-like plant display.
